"Chaat"?
Chaat is a beloved Indian street food celebrated for its explosion of contrasting flavors and textures—sweet, sour, tangy, spicy, and crunchy—all in one irresistible bite. This version reimagines that iconic flavor experience as an elegant appetizer fit for a dinner party or festive gathering. The Black Salt Keya Chips create that signature lip-smacking base, while Brooklyn Delhi’s Tamarind Date Chutney adds sweet and sour depth. The cilantro-mint chutney brings vibrance and herbiness, and the sour cream ties it all together with cooling creaminess. A final sprinkle of chives lends a hint of fresh umami, making this chaat feel right at home on a party platter.
If you’re feeling extra bougie, add a dollop of caviar for an unexpected touch of luxury. Or, for a heartier lunch version, toss in canned chickpeas and finely diced veggies, then drizzle over the chutneys and chips. That’s the beauty of chaat—it’s endlessly adaptable and always satisfying.
