Laura Zeng is an artist based in Seattle, Washington, whose work blends technical precision with creative whimsy. Laura grew up in a primarily white community in Indiana where anime and Asian snacks were some of the few ways for her to connect to her Asian heritage. As a result, her artistic style draws heavily from the cartoons like Sailor Moon and Pokemon as well as the bright and colorful packaging of her favorite childhood treats.
Laura left Indiana to attend Wellesley College, where she studied Computer Science and English. After graduation, she moved to Seattle to be a software engineer at Microsoft and has been in the tech industry for eight years. In April 2024, Laura decided to focus more professionally on her art. Since embarking on her artistic journey, Laura has had the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of small businesses in Seattle, including Mixed Pantry. She feels endlessly grateful for the warm welcome and support she has received from the local community, which continues to inspire and motivate her creative endeavors.
Laura’s artwork is known for being cute and often features silly cats and woodland creatures in whimsical settings. While digital art is her primary medium, she also enjoys experimenting with traditional 2D media like acrylics and colored pencils.
